Description
Composition (Ce, La, Nd, Th) [PO4] phosphate minerals. Monoclinic system, crystal plate-like or columnar. Brown-red, yellow, sometimes brownish yellow, oil sheen, cleavage completely, Mohs hardness of 5 to 5.5, a specific gravity of 4.9 to 5.5. Normally radioactive.
Properties and Uses: monazite extraction of cerium, lanthanum rare earth mineral raw materials.
